Community Development

Round Table India responds to urgent needs, supports vulnerable populations, and strengthens the social fabric of the places served.

Our community development initiatives focus on food security, environmental stewardship, and rapid disaster response.

These initiatives ensure that RTI remains firmly connected to the everyday realities of people across India.

What We Do

Round Table India lives by Service Through Fellowship, and our community development work shows how deeply that runs in our DNA. Across the country, Tablers identify, partner, and act on critical needs in their neighbourhoods through three broad pillars: food & welfare, environmental stewardship, and disaster response.

Nourishing Communities

Round Table India launched RTI Kitchen to provide immediate relief from the COVID19 pandemic through cooked meals and ration distribution. From major urban centers like Mumbai to state government kitchens (e.g., in Ranchi), our teams mobilised quickly to reach the elderly, daily-wage workers, and other vulnerable groups.

Today, RTI Kitchen continues to support communities by offering food security through regular meal drives and essential supply distribution.

Environmental Responsibility

We recognise that community development isn’t just about people — it’s about the planet we share. Through our Go Green initiative, Tablers lead tree plantation drives, environmental awareness campaigns, and sustainability projects across India.
These efforts are oriented toward long-term ecological change, protecting our environment for future generations.

Disaster Relief: First Responders When It Matters Most

Round Table India has a long history of being among the very first organisations on the ground when disasters strike. Our disaster relief work includes
  • Kashmir Floods: RTI was among the first NGOs on site, helping families with food, shelter, and emotional support.
  • Gujarat Earthquake: We rebuilt 20 schools in Kutch and Bhuj within four months, delivering quality education infrastructure in record time. Azim Premji Foundation contributed INR 80 Lacs on a total outlay of INR 2.4 Crores.
  • Tamil Nadu Tsunami Relief: In Operation Tsunami, RTI worked with the state government to rebuild schools in affected areas, a massive, large-scale reconstruction effort. Around 126 Schools were built at a cost of INR 25 Crores.
  • Odisha Cyclone: For Orissa Cyclone Relief in 1999-2000, construction of 10 Schools was carried out by the Tables in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Reconstruction of homes, schools, and distribution of food and daily necessities was done in Puri, Bhubaneswar & Cuttack after Cyclone Fani in May 2019.
