41 Clubs of India

The Round Table was formed in 1927, exclusively for young men aged between 18 and 40, to offer young men the same privileges offered by clubs like the Rotary Club. The retiring tablers were called “honorary members” and they stayed on with the Round Table organization. Later, in the early 1940s, a separate club called 41 club was formed for ex-tablers or old tablers. An association of the 41 clubs – called ‘The Association of Ex-Round Tablers’ Clubs, was established in 1945, and then the 41 Club International was formed in 1975. The prime objective of this 41 Club International is to maintain contacts between clubs and their members throughout the world. They also strive to maintain the bonds of friendship between all Ex-Tablers. There are approximately 50,000 members.

41ers are members of the “Association of 41 Clubs of India”, (Affiliated To 41 Clubs International) who have been past members of Round Table and have attained the age of 40 years (retirement age). 41ers stand for Continued Friendship (where The Hinges Of Friendship Never Rust). They support Round Table India’s long-term Project ‘FREEDOM THROUGH EDUCATION “ through contributions to Round Table India Foundation Corpus as well as direct contributions through Round Table India Trust.

Today there are close to 3000 members in 214 clubs and growing. Among other activities of 41 Club, their flagship program is the Young Ambassadors Programme. Every year 26 Children, of 41ers, aged 18-25 years travel to Europe/ South Africa, to the homes of 41ers of member countries. A similar Number from Europe travel to India on a reciprocal basis.
