Dear Friends
I am really thrilled that you have accepted me as your President.
It is not just a great honour that you have bestowed upon me but also the accumulated goodwill of Round Table India that has been handed over to me. It is not just this tri-colour jewel that has been entrusted to me but an inheritance that I have received. I pledge that I will nurture it, protect it and make it stronger.
One thing however, that I would like to bring to your attention straight away is that, as the President of Round Table India, I am not the first amongst equals, I am just one amongst equals. My role is mainly to be the chief facilitator in co-ordinating the activities of Round table India.
The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision. As the president of Round Table India, I have a vision…But, my vision is not to tell you how many greetings cards you are going to sell this year. Neither am I going to set you a target for supply house sales. Nor am I going to tell you how many schools we are going to build this year.
You decide what you want to do…you tell me in what way you want me to assist you…and I promise you that I along-with the national board will be there standing solidly next to you and supporting you in all your tabling endeavours.
The National Board of RTI this year is called “the friendship team” and friendship is the basic framework within which all of us on this team will go around discharging our duties
My vision for the year is to ensure that we have sufficient fun. My vision is to bring back the simple joys of tabling…the simple joy of organizing a little fundraiser, the simple joy of hosting a social at home, the simple joy of billeting and being billeted at a tabler’s home, the simple joy of visiting our schools and spending time with those kids. This is my vision.
In a few weeks from now all tables & areas across the country would have had their AGMs and the new teams will step in place. Now is the time for us to start putting our plans and collective thoughts into place...always remember, "We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is… in knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out." You hold inside of yourself more magic than you’ll ever need. And it is this magic that comes to life in your moments of inspiration.
Our ability to harness the potential of these collective thoughts and ideas is what will determine how successful we are in giving Round table India a fun filled year.
There may be times when… you may not be able to choose to do what you do, but then, you can certainly choose how you do it.
I say, lets choose to do it with “a touch of friendship”.
Warmest regards,
Your friend,
Tr. Ajay Handa
President
